Thank-you cards are small piece of the puzzle but are critical to the follow-up portion of the interview process. Write individual thank you notes to each interviewer and mail them in separate envelopes. It is essential for you to do three things in your note:
- Thank the interviewer(s) for the opportunity to interview for the position and for their time.
- Make a connection between yourself and something specific about the company and the position that was discussed in the interview process.
- Make a personal connection (if possible) to the interviewer(s) in some way that demonstrates you were paying attention not only to what they had to say but to them as a person.
- Close them again on your ability to do the job.

Dear Ms. Interviewer:
Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the Operations Manager position last Friday. I appreciate the time you spent during the interview as well as the tour you provided of your tremendous facility. I was very impressed with the quality of services and people that are associated with ABC Corporation.
Our discussion regarding your management model and the implementation of Six Sigma was very interesting. It was also intriguing to learn how successful your horizontal management model has been in empowering your employees. I am excited about the possibility of incorporating such a powerful model into my management style.
I am confident that the leadership experience I've had as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Navy, combined with my willingness to learn and hustle, will prove to be assets for your company. Last Friday's interview only reinforced my desire to join your management team and work for ABC Corporation.
On a personal note, I hope your nephew's wedding was a big hit on Saturday! Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Robert Smith
