Everyone’s story is worthy of telling, and Jim Lose can expertly share more than one thousand of them. As Managing Partner for Lucas Group’s Military Transition division Jim has helped to shape and launch a multitude of rewarding civilian careers – one military officer at a time.
He can tell the stories firsthand, in part because he has written his own. Having served in the Marine Corps for eight years as an Intelligence Officer, Jim executed deployments in the Middle East and throughout the Asian-Pacific rim. Unexpectedly recalled to active duty for one year during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Jim recognizes that experienced insight and thoughtful groundwork are critical elements to success, and he reliably brings those qualities to every search opportunity.
Jim’s impressive track-record of successful placements is a direct result of his commitment to detailed research, focused preparation, and knowledgeable, consultative service. He genuinely understands both the career aspirations and professional challenges faced by military officers, and his passion for assisting fellow officers in identifying and commencing their own satisfying careers has remained stalwart since his separation from the military in 1999.
Over the course of his notable tenure as a Lucas Group candidate recruiter, Jim has been witness to the remarkable management and professional abilities of U.S. military officers. Time and again, candidates return to Jim later in their careers as hiring managers, completing a cycle that began with one transitioning officer and one dedicated recruiter.
Recognized in the field as a trustworthy expert on the recruitment and hiring of military veterans, Jim has been a participant and interviewee on CSPAN’s “Washington Journal” and National Public Radio’s “Marketplace”. In addition, he has been an invited speaker at the United States Naval Academy, Virginia Military Institute, and various Army and Marine base officer transition programs.
An avid skier, Jim is active in a variety of sports and youth soccer coaching. He thoroughly enjoys being outnumbered at home by his three daughters, wife and female bullmastiff puppy. Jim earned a BA in Russian Studies from Franklin and Marshall College and holds a MS in Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College.
