Michelle’s preparation is so thorough, her knowledge of the Denver accounting and finance (A&F) market so specific, and her relationships with clients and candidates so strong, that only one of her placement in the last six years has not worked out. It’s extremely rare to find such a stellar track record of lasting placements.
Her success is reflected in her approach. Her top priority is to listen—truly listen—to each client and candidate. She approaches each recruiting opportunity with rigorous preparation. She communicates with a diverse professional network, researches her client in great detail, and deeply delves into the motivations and aspirations of highly-qualified candidates.
Michelle goes far beyond a job description probing deeply to determine what clients are truly looking for and candidate motivations for considering a job change and how it fits into their career aspirations. Her goal is not to simply fill a job; it’s to create a long-term relationship between client and candidate.
She focuses on recruiting managers through the VP level in general accounting, technical accounting, financial reporting, audit, tax, and corporate finance across diverse industries. In Colorado, oil, gas, and mining are significant and Michelle is a member of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS) and a co-chair for the New Professionals Committee. But she sees the state’s economy as impressively diverse and actively recruits across multiple industries. Further, she finds the Denver workforce to be highly educated, well-credentialed, and focused on a healthy work/life balance. Each characteristic shapes her approach.
The vast majority of her business comes from referrals and Michelle takes a highly professional, candid, and consultative approach to every assignment. It’s easy to forward resumes and close a transaction. But it takes experience, industry knowledge, and transparency to achieve long-term relationships.
When she’s not recruiting, Michelle has an active lifestyle like so many of her colleagues in Denver. She loves to swim, downhill and cross country ski, and hit the treadmill over lunch. Consistent with her active lifestyle, Michelle also enjoys cooking healthy and flavorful food, pairing her creations with a nice glass of pinot noir. She also gives back to her community by serving on the Young Professional Board for Denver Kids and mentoring a young woman in a local high school. Family and friends are a high priority.
