James came to Lucas Group in 2018 as a Senior Executive Search Consultant in the Military practice group. Working throughout the Washington, D.C. area, he expertly matches military candidates with a wide range of employers from mid-size companies to Fortune 500 corporations. James strives to satisfy the hiring needs of his clients by presenting them with high-caliber military talent who can lead initiatives and drive results. His resiliency and tenacity have allowed him to have a long-term, successful career in recruiting and build an impressive network of connections.

James spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy and achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. During this time, he was in recruiting for 11 years as both a station manager and a regional operations manager. For his efforts, he was Navy Recruiter of the Year and Top Recruiting Manager of the Year. After retiring from the military in 2001, James turned to the civilian side of recruiting, working for several international and national recruiting firms, earning Top Regional Supervisor in Upstate New York. With nearly 20 years of civilian recruiting experience, James transitioned to Lucas Group in 2018 to assist top military candidates in finding ideal positions in the civilian sector. James’ recruiting background together with his military experience ensure that he pairs military talent with exceptional positions that capitalize on their unique and diverse skill sets, meanwhile helping more than 250 organizations hire more than 1,500 military veterans

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, James holds a degree in history from Ohio State University and is passionate about supporting Ohio State sports. He also enjoys spending time with his family and animals as well as playing flag football and basketball.
