Patrick Bulmer began his career in the search industry in 2012 as an unpaid intern at the retained executive search firm DHR International before being tapped to lead the internal talent acquisition for the firm’s mid-level subsidiary, Jobplex. He was later promoted to Principal, leading search assignments at the emerging leader level before being promoted to Partner in 2016.
As Partner at Jobplex, Patrick led search for technology and finance leaders and established the firm’s first military recruiting offering. As the youngest Partner in the firm’s history, he was recruited to Lucas Group in 2018, where the burgeoning IT practice as well as Patrick’s history as a military hiring leader and his client-first approach to recruiting struck a chord as being the perfect platform for conducting IT executive search at the mid-manager to Senior Director-VP level.
In his role as Senior Partner, Patrick works with HR and hiring managers to bridge the communication cap in determining what the right talent looks like for tough-to-fill technology roles, ensuring opportunities and organizations are marketing themselves properly to the right demographics while providing a VIP candidate experience throughout the search process. Lucas Group allows Patrick to provide the high-touch, responsive support expected of a traditional top-three retained firm, using a fee model that competes with technology staffing firms.
At Lucas Group, Patrick leads Information Security search across the Midwest for clients seeking security engineers, pen testers and consultants for leadership and other senior opportunities. Often recruiting for the Big 4 and similar consulting firms as well as leading financial organizations, many of Patrick’s clients hire his candidates as a way to decrease the revenue they are paying to consulting firms on security projects and as a way to bring in top level talent who can “raise the bar” for their current teams.
Patrick volunteers to help veterans and others making a career transition through a local Non-Profit called MyCareerPlace.
